KEY POINTS

  • Sami Zayn reveals that conversations began as early as Survivor Series 2021
  • Zayn fully accepted into the faction following Survivor Series WarGames
  • Fans are expecting Zayn to eventually turn on the Bloodline down the road

WWE has a golden storyline on their hands with Sami Zayn finally becoming a full-fledged member of the Bloodline after chasing their approval for the better part of this year and has since made the group the biggest product in pro wrestling today.

Zayn recently spoke with Peter Rosenberg on the latter's podcast and revealed how it all began plus the difference in the story's current trajectory to that of his initial pitch.

"I won't pull the curtain back too much, but the idea was kicked around about a year ago... In actuality, the idea was first discussed going into Survivor Series of last year. I was doing this whole thing on SmackDown where I was the longest-tenured member as the locker room leader. I thought it'd be something interesting with the locker room leader and Head of the Table," Zayn recounted.

"I wasn't originally envisioning being a full member of the Bloodline or anything like that, just something to where Roman (Reigns) and I can occasionally get on screen together in a light-hearted way, and I'm giving him these reports of what's going on and what he needs to be careful for. Every once in a while, I get things kicked my way too. That was sort of the idea."

Zayn had been floating around WWE's mid-card scene with his conspiracy theorist gimmick–aside from a highly entertaining WrestleMania 38 match against Johnny Knoxville of the famed Jackass franchise.

His hopes of becoming a type of informant/extension of the Bloodline began on the April 22 episode of SmackDown, slowly gaining each member's trust.

Rosenberg then asked Zayn who made the push to make the partnership happen and he admitted that while he does not entirely remember the conversation, but he did confirm that him and Reigns had mutual feelings as on-screen workers.

The first part of Zayn's story with Roman Reigns' faction culminated at Survivor Series WarGames where the former NXT Champion fully aligned himself with them, turning his back on Kevin Owens to pick up the win.

Officially being brought into the Bloodline has elevated Zayn's star to epic proportions, heights which he has not reached before despite being one of the most beloved performers on the roster.

However, good things eventually come to an end and many fans are of the belief that Zayn's actions and his determination to gain their approval will eventually turn into their biggest mistakes and cost the Bloodline their run over WWE.

WWE will surely give a united Bloodline their time under the sun in the coming weeks, but their unraveling is likely to begin during or after the Royal Rumble on January 28 as the company heads into WrestleMania season.
