South Korean technology giant Samsung has officially unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos, the dual-SIM version of its latest flagship smartphone on Friday in China.

The Galaxy S4 Duos, with the model number GT-I9502, comes with the same specs as the Exynos 5 Octa version of the device (GT-I9500) that include the 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display panel, a 13MP camera which can shoot up to Full HD 1080p videos at 30FPS and a 2.1MP front-facing camera, which is capable of shooting up to Full HD 1080p videos.

The new handset is powered by the Exynos 5 Octa CPU clocked at 1.6GHz. It also features a Tri-Core PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s new TouchWiz UX 2.0 out-of-the-box, the Galaxy S4 Duos also sports Samsung’s Smart Features like Smart Stay, Smart Pause, Smart Scroll and Smart Pause, Air Gestures, S Voice, S Health and S Translator, SamMobile reported.

According to another report by GSMArena, the new Galaxy S4 Duos is 2 grams heavier than other variants of the device. Apart from GT-I9502, there is another China-specific Galaxy S4 model, the single-SIM GT-I9508 with Snapdragon 600 chipset, which differs from the GT-I9505 model in its TD-SCDMA support (the 3G tech in China), the report added.

In addition to the Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos, the company also released the first official I9502ZNUAMDG firmware based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean to Chinese users. The Galaxy S4 Duos can easily be updated to this new firmware using Odin. Take a look at the firmware details below:

Here’s a tutorial, explaining how to install I9502ZNUAMDG Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos manually. But before going ahead with the installation process, take note of the following aspects:

- Make sure that you have proper backups for your data

- Ensure that your Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos has at least 80 percent battery power

- You must have the USB drivers for your device installed on your computer. [Download]

- This tutorial is only for Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos GT-I9502. Don’t apply this on any other variants or devices.

Tutorial

Step 1: Download I9502ZNUAMDG Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos and extract the file.

Step 2: Download Odin and extract the file.

Step 3: Turn off Galaxy S4 Duos and put it on the Download Mode. To do this, press and hold the Volume Down + Home buttons together and then press the Power button. After you see a warning screen, press Power button to confirm to enter Download Mode.

Step 4: Run Odin as an administrator.

Step 5: Connect Galaxy S4 Duos to your computer via the USB while it is on the Download Mode. If the device is connected properly, one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number.

Step 6: In Odin, click on “PDA” and select the .tar file with “CODE” in its name that you have got after extracting the I9502ZNUAMDG Firmware Package in Step 1.

- Click on “Phone” and select file with “MODEM” in its name (Ignore this step if there is no such file)

- Click on “CSC” and select file with “CSC” in its name (Ignore this step if there is no such file)

- Click on “PIT” and select the .pit file. Use this file only if you get it while extracting the zip file mentioned in Step 1 or else just ignore it

Step 7: In the Odin window, ensure that “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes are selected. In addition, if you are using a .pit file, ensure that repartition checkbox is selected. Otherwise, it should not be ticked.

Step 8: Click on the Start button in Odin to initiate the flashing process. Wait for Odin to flash I9502ZNUAMDG on your Galaxy S4 Duos.

Step 9: After the installation is complete, the device will restart on its own. Once you get the Samsung logo on the home screen, unplug the device from the computer.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Duos (GT-I9502) will now be updated to I9502ZNUAMDG Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
