  • Based on its latest report, Samsung is planning to launch a couple of major smartphones this 2020
  • The report mentions the new Galaxy Note and Galaxy Fold models arriving this year

The current global health crisis brought by the COVID-19 virus affected lots of businesses and delayed a plethora of product launches. But, it looks like Samsung is still poised to release a couple of its major products this year. The South Korean tech giant recently confirmed that the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 are releasing sometime this year.

The latest information on the upcoming releases of Samsung’s products is based on the first quarter earnings report of the Seoul-based tech titan. The report noted that “looking ahead to the second quarter … the company will continue to offer differentiated products in the premium segment with the launch of new foldable and Note models.” Samsung just released the Galaxy Z Fold, so the most probable foldable smartphone arriving this year is the Galaxy Fold 2.

Although Samsung did reveal the names of the upcoming models, it noted its plans on improving the sales of its products for the second quarter of this year. In the report, Samsung did emphasize that the new Galaxy Note and Galaxy Fold models will have a crucial role in bolstering its sales in the second half of the year. Both upcoming models are an essential part of the company’s premium smartphone segment, a division, which Samsung intends to bolster its sales.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is rumored to sport high-end features. It includes the use of the Infinity-O punch-hole camera currently present in Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. It is also anticipated to feature a larger 7.6-inch display with a high refresh rate along with a better hinge mechanism and robust foldable display. Moreover, the Galaxy Fold 2 is anticipated to feature 5G wireless network connectivity support.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is believed to be a major upgrade of the Galaxy Note 10 Plus with a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz. Earlier rumors claimed that the Galaxy Note 20 series might feature an under-display selfie camera to make it stand out against the upcoming iPhone 12 series from Apple. It is worth noting, however, that this is in no way an official confirmation that these products would definitely arrive this year. Samsung could still change its timeline, especially if its supply chain would be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
