Samsung has begun airing a TV ad for the Galaxy S8 in South Korea with more than one month before the product is officially arrives. Analysts believe that this might be due to the early success of the LG G6.

LG is Samsung’s biggest rival domestically, and the Galaxy phone maker has a good reason to be a bit worried. The LG G6 just launched in Korea this past Friday and LG was able to sell 30,000 units since then. Preorders on the other hand are already way beyond 82,000 units, according to The Korea Herald.

“The LG G6 sold 20,000 units on the first day of sales, a record high compared to its predecessors,” KB Securities analyst Kim Dong-won said. “The figure was higher than double and quadruple that of the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy A5.”

With Samsung airing a TV ad for the Galaxy S8 this early, the company is trying to make sure that the LG G6 doesn’t completely dominate the premium smartphone market in the country. The ad doesn’t really give out any new information on the Galaxy S8, but it does help remind consumers that Samsung’s next flagship is still on the way.

Samsung has announced that it will unveil the Galaxy S8 on March 29 during its Unpacked event in New York City. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported recently that the Galaxy S8 will be released on April 21. There are also rumors going around that its release has been delayed to April 28, while there are some stating that it might actually be released earlier on April 14, as pointed out by Trusted Reviews.

The LG G6 might be succeeding now, but its long-term success will depend on how consumers receive the Samsung Galaxy S8, as pointed out by Android Central.
