Video game developer and publisher Tecmo Koei will unveil “Samurai Warriors 4” for the PlayStation 3, PSVita and PlayStation 4 at E3 next week, according to a press release.

“Samurai Warriors 4” will celebrate 10 years of the tactical action “Warriors” franchise that has sold more than 34 million units internationally.

The game has been in development since 2012, but was not officially announced until September 2013. “Samurai Warriors 4” will launch Oct. 21 this year.

“Samurai Warriors 4” will feature 55 new and updated characters, including newcomers Nobuyuki Sanada and Yoshitsugu Otani. Takatora Todo, Naotora Ii and Munenori Yagyu, who were previously only available in the Japanese releases of previous titles, will also join the roster.

The title will also feature new battle modes, with special enhancements and newly implemented gameplay systems to “create a deeper and more satisfying combat experience, including the all-new ability to switch between two characters in real-time, adjustments to morale, officer development and return of the popular portable item system found in ‘Samurai Warriors 3.’”
