‘The Santa Stakeout’ Hallmark Movie Premiere: Cast, Trailer, Synopsis

Hallmark Channel’s merry holiday season continues with the newest “Countdown to Christmas” holiday premiere, ‘The Santa Stakeout.” The film, starring Tamera Mowry-Housley and Paul Campbell, premieres Sunday night.

Hallmark fans will likely recognize both stars. While Mowry-Housley is still most recognizable for playing Tamera Campbell on “Sister, Sister,” the show which launched her and her twin sister Tia’s careers, or even as a host of “The Real,” she is no stranger to Hallmark. Not only did she also host and appear on “Home & Family,” but she has also starred in the Hallmark Channel film “Christmas Comes Twice,” as well as the Hallmark Movies &Mysteries film, “A Christmas Miracle.”

Of course, Campbell is also well-recognized for his previous Hallmark roles, which have included the films “Sun, Sand and Romance,” “The Last Bridesmaid,” “Wedding every Weekend” and “Christmas By Starlight” on Hallmark Channel, as well as “A Godwink Christmas” and “Holiday Hearts” on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

So what will happen when these two team up in their first project together?

“Tanya (Mowry-Housley) is a police detective who is reluctantly paired with fellow detective Ryan (Campbell) to solve a string of recent heists that have taken place during high-profile holiday parties around town,” the synopsis reads. “They go undercover as newlyweds Tasha and Rupert and move into the vacant house next to Mr. Miller (Joe Pantoliano), the jovial chair of the community’s Christmas committee...and the prime suspect in the case.”

However, what neither one expects as they play house and attend different festivities in an effort to solve the case, is that they may have a deeper connection than they knew—and there may be something brewing as a result.

“As Tanya and Ryan participate in the neighborhood’s holiday happenings to keep up appearances and crack the case, they become swept up by Christmas, begin to see each other in a new light and start to fall in love,” the synopsis states.

Will they find both their culprit and a great Christmas love story?

“The Santa Stakeout” airs Sunday, October 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on Hallmark Channel.
