Sarah Ferguson’s style and fashion became the topic of discussion in a new documentary.

In Channel 5’s “Secrets of Royal Dressmakers,” royal expert Ingrid Seward dubbed the Duchess of York as the worst dresser of all time. But Seward didn’t deny the fact that there were some moments wherein the mom of two looked great in her own clothes.

But overall, and especially in the 1980s, her fashion and style were quite disastrous.

“She looked great in her own clothes, in jeans and t-shirts but she was just a disaster in the fashion of the 80s because it was just too much for her. It was too frilly, there were too many bows… She said so herself,” Seward said.

But according to royal expert Emily Andrews, over the years, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife’s style has improved tremendously. As a much older woman, Andrews said Fergie’s style is absolutely on point.

“She’s got really good legs, she always wears dresses or pleated skirts, a top, and a blazer and she’s got that lovely red hair,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ferguson wasn’t the only member of the royal family whose fashion and style were criticized especially in the previous decades. Princess Diana didn’t also become a style icon until after a few years when she joined the royal family.

In an article she wrote for Vanity Fair, royal author Katie Nicholl said that Princess Diana didn’t have a good taste in clothes decades ago. In fact, she previously made headlines for wearing a see-through skirt during one of her outings.

At that time, Princess Diana was already in a relationship with Prince Charles so all eyes were on her.

“So much so that, that very first picture of Diana that was taken of her, holding a child outside the nursery she was photographed in a completely see-through skirt. Much to her horror… That was how naive, I suppose Diana was when it came to her fashion choices,” Nicholl said.
