Saweetie is a rapper most famous for her debut single “Icy Grl,” which earned a Gold certification in June 2018 after accumulating 500,000 total sales in the United States. But during her college days, the artist had to work four jobs to make both ends meet.

The music artist followed up her explosive debut in the industry with her singles “My Type,” which became the No. 1 song on Rhythmic Songs Airplay Chart in 2019, and “Tap In,” which topped the Top Triller U.S. & Global Charts, as per Billboard.

Saweetie, born Diamonte Quiava Valentin Harper, now has an estimated net worth of $4 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth. But during her student days, the music artist struggled to make ends meet. Harper prioritized her education over her career and enrolled in San Diego State University, where she studied for a year after graduating from Monterey Trail High School.

The rapper revealed she did not plan on getting a college degree but later found herself accepted into her dream school, the University of Southern California. Her enrollment at USC pushed her to focus on her studies and finish college.

Saweetie struggled to balance her studies, four jobs and an aspiring music career. “I’m very high maintenance. I like to get my weave, my nails, I like going shopping. I had to keep myself up. And how do you do that? With four jobs,” Saweetie said during an interview with the Daily Trojan.

As of August 2021, Saweetie’s Instagram account, @saweetie, has more than 12 million followers. Meanwhile, roughly 20.6 million Spotify users listened to her music in May 2021. The rapper also has her own clothing line, “Icy,” which takes inspiration from her songs’ lyrics for clothing designs. One of the products is a $100 terry cloth sweatpants with the line “rich with no day job” taken from her breakout single, “Tap In,” according to Forbes.

Later this summer, the rapper is set to release her first EP titled “Pretty B*tch Music.” She also plans to launch her very own “Icy Baby Foundation” which will be co-founded by her grandmother. The company aims to improve the financial literacy of Black and Brown youth.
