A man from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was arrested after he beat his mother, brutally stabbed his girlfriend and threw his toddler daughter out of a window.

On Saturday, the accused, identified as 29-year-old Pierre Francois, who suffers from schizophrenia, started beating his mother. He then moved to the bedroom where he brutally stabbed his girlfriend in the face and eyes. He also sliced her throat with a knife before throwing their 1-year-old daughter out of the window.

The man's mother rushed to a neighbor's home and called the police. Officers arrived at the home and found the baby lying face-down in the front yard of the home. It appeared as if the baby's nose was bitten off.

The officers entered the home and found the baby's mother lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds to her face and eyes. The mother-daughter duo was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"The infant suffers from what appears to be a skull fracture, as well as it appears that (her) nose was bitten off. This was a very, very gruesome scene that the deputies encountered, and it was caused by a family member," Broward Sheriff's Office Sgt. Donald Prichard said, South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

When the officers attempted to take the accused into custody, he initially resisted.

"A taser was used and a brief foot pursuit occurred, where he was taken into custody after further incident," Prichard said, ABC-affiliated television station WPLG reported.

The accused appeared in court Monday and was charged with two counts of attempted felony murder and one count of aggravated assault. During the court appearance, the prosecutor spoke about the extent of the injuries the victims sustained.

"This will result in the victim being blind in both eyes. The injuries that the infant suffered are traumatic brain injuries and potential possible brain bleed," attorney Eric Lindor said.

The accused is being held in jail with his bond set at $550,000. He will soon undergo a mental health evaluation.
