  • Scottie Pippen's net worth is $20 million
  • His total NBA salary is bigger than Michael Jordan's
  • Pippen won 6 NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls

Scottie Pippen’s net worth is around $20 million, but he actually received more NBA salary than his teammate Michael Jordan.

Pippen is the longtime teammate of Jordan in the Chicago Bulls back in the day. He served as a great role player and support for MJ. Even His Airness claims that without Pip, there would be no Michael Jordan. That is how valuable Pippen was to him and to the Bulls’ organization. However, after fans have watched the Michael Jordan documentary on Netflix, his teammate’s salary received extra attention.

Pippen signed a 7-year deal worth $18 million in 1987 to play for the Bulls, as per Newsweek. This means that he got just a bit more than $2 million per year at that time. Compared to what Jordan was receiving with more than $30 million per year, Pippen’s salary seemed outrageously low since his contributions were more than average. The truth is that Pippen was severely underpaid that even MJ told him about selling himself short.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, MJ’s best teammate was able to make some money on the side via endorsement deals. Pippen represented Nike, Ameritech Cellular TV, Frito-Lay, Visa, McDonald's, Right Guard and Coca-Cola, among others. When asked why he signed a bad deal, he said it created a much-needed security for his family. After all, Pippen came from a poor household and any money is still money for him.

This eventually forced the Chicago Bulls player to ask for a trade, creating more tensions with the management and compounding the strained relationships within the organization, which all contributed to the end of the dynasty.

Once all is said and done, Pippen eventually earned more as a professional basketball player than MJ. He received $109 million in total compared to Jordan’s $93 million. Of course, the latter has made billions via endorsement deals, business ventures and selling shoes. After his stint with the Bulls, the do-it-all forward suited for the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers where he received a substantial increase in salary.

The Hamburg, Arkansas native would have appreciated a bigger salary had he played today. Pippen has had financial difficulties in recent years which prompted him to put several properties on sale such as his home in Chicago and Florida. Scottie Pippen allegedly was scammed by financial advisor Robert Lunn who advised him to buy a jet for $4 million. It turned out the jet needed an upgrade and was malfunctioning.

On the other hand, Pippen and former wife Larsa Pippen are currently undergoing divorce proceedings. The two have been estranged from one another since the later part of 2019.
