Selena Gomez is finally back on Instagram, and she has shared gorgeous photos and an emotional message after her three-month break.

Gomez, 26, took a break from the spotlight last year and has not posted anything on Instagram since then, though she has appeared on her pals' social media. But on Monday, the singer-actress finally broke her silence and gave her 144 million followers an update on her life and health after she completed her treatment.

In her message, she wished her fans a happy new year and thanked them for all their love and support. She also looked back at 2018, saying it was a "year of self-reflection, challenges and growth."

Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend went on to say that she has grown so much after experiencing the challenges she has faced so far and is proud of the person she is now.

“It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming," she continued. "Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead. Love you all."

The former Disney star was admitted to the hospital twice in October, both times due to low white blood cell count. This is a side effect of her kidney transplant, which she got due to her lupus.

Gomez completed her treatment in December, and since then, she has been having a blast spending time with her close pals, including Taylor Swift.

Last week, Swift shared a photo of herself, Gomez and Cazzie David having a drink and sharing a laugh. In the Instagram snap, Gomez had a big smile on her face as she held a mug in her hand and posed behind Swift and David.

Before Christmas, Gomez went on a wintery getaway with her pals, Connar Franklin and actress Bailee Madison, in Big Bear, California.

A source told People at the time that Gomez looks "amazing" and "happy" and has been "surrounding herself with friends."
