In July, Blind Gossip posted an item about a “young musical couple” whose romance appeared to be “happy” but was actually the work of a publicity stunt. Now the site is alleging that the couple it was discussing was none other than Selena Gomez and The Weeknd, who ended their 10-month romance on Oct. 30.

According to the site, the romance between the “Starboy” singer and the “Same Old Love” performer was the work of a “contract,” writing, “Sorry, kids. Selena and The Weeknd were never a real couple. It was all a PR relationship.” Of course, this isn’t the first time the former couple has been accused of faking their romance.

A publicist for Gomez has not yet responded to International Business Times’ request for comment.

Originally, Blind Gossip said it was one of the star’s unnamed exes who spilled the beans about the rumored true nature of their relationship. “Her fans seem especially happy about it. Magazine articles talk about how they are so in love. Only… is it real?” the site reported over the summer, before going on to quote the unnamed ex saying they were just appearing to be together “for publicity” and that their relationship would be over “in a few months.”

As for reports Selena and The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, split due to scheduling issues, Blind Gossip laughed off the excuse. “Did you like the excuse for Selena and the Weeknd’s breakup? Scheduling problems. Ha!” reads the report. “Of course, Selena can not be seen as a cheater. That’s why there was the fast denial that she is back on with [ex-boyfriend] Justin [Bieber].”

Prior to officially parting ways with The Weeknd, Selena was seen hosting Bieber at her Los Angeles home in late October. After the split was announced, the former pair continued to be spotted together in public. While numerous reports have claimed Gomez and Bieber are officially an item, on Saturday, People reported that Bieber is waiting for Gomez to tell them when they’re back together.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd appears to have also moved on. The artist adopted a “post-breakup” dog after the split.
