  • Seo Hee Ham silences her critics by dominating Denice Zamboanga in their rematch
  • Zamboanga's striking was suffocated by Ham's ground control
  • Itsuki Hirata loses for the first time in her professional MMA career

South Korean hard-hitter Seo Hee Ham got the job done once again in her highly-anticipated rematch versus fierce Filipina rival Denice Zamboanga at ONE X: Part II on Saturday, March 26, but this time around, she made sure that no doubt would be casted on the manner she claimed victory.

From start to finish, Ham was all over Zamboanga, battering “The Lycan Queen” with a torrent of hard punches before bringing her opponent into deep waters courtesy of her underrated ground game.

Ham lived up to her infamous moniker “Hamderlei Silva” as she brought the fight to Zamboanga in the opening moments of the contest, but after a brief pause due to an accidental collision of heads in the first round, the South Korean recovered and wasted no time in imposing her will.

Zamboanga—who’s known to be well-versed on the mat—had no answers to the advances of Ham on the ground, being on the receiving end of short-but-crisp blows that aggravated the swelling on her forehead in the second frame.

As a last-ditch effort, Zamboanga came out storming towards Ham at the start of the third and final period in search of a momentum-changing takedown.

However, Ham outrightly denied Zamboanga and her intention, pinning her on the canvas for the remainder of the encounter as she utilized her ground-and-pound to seal a clear unanimous decision win.

With the dominant performance against Zamboanga, Ham improved to a 25-8 record and extended her winning streak to seven matches.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga fell to 8-2 and sustained her second-straight defeat in the span of six months.

In other fights booked on the ONE X: Part II card, Hiroki Akimoto ended the reign of ONE bantamweight kickboxing champion Capitan Petchyindee Academy by unanimous decision.

On the other hand, Malaysia’s Jihin Radzuan (8-2) eked out a razor-thin split decision win over Japanese submission specialist Itsuki Hirata (5-1) in a highly-competitive women’s atomweight encounter.
