Aside from the physical challenges her character will go through in the upcoming season, McNamara also teased emotional challenges. In an interview with Movie Maniacs, the actress said her character will struggle a bit with trying to help Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood) to come to terms with the idea of having Valentine Morgenstern (Alan van Sprang) as his father.

McNamara also said that the season will be rather difficult for Jace especially since he has a very strong personality. Being offered some life-changing information has certainly shaken him, and it will take a while -- and Clary’s help -- for him to adjust to things completely. “Jace has been so sure of himself this whole time and known exactly who he is, but now that he’s learned that Valentine is his father, it’s kind of changed everything for him,” McNamara said during a Q&A session.

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 has not been given a premiere date, but it is expected to air in 2017.
