Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous lead developer of the dog-themed altcoin Shiba Inu, has teased the Shib Army with a Vietnam-related announcement to ensure SHIB's presence in the region.

For the ever loyal and supportive Shib Army, or the moniker for the Shiba Inu community, Kusama's tweet is always good news. On Wednesday night, the lead developer posted a tweet, saying, "Where is Vietnam #ShibArmy ? Say hello in the comments."

In a follow-up tweet, Kusama posted about a "special treat" for the Southeast Asian country to ensure Shiba Inu's presence in the region. "Great! I have a special treat for Vietnam soon. I'll keep you all posted. Just making sure we are present in that region," the tweet read.

While Kusama did not reveal the details of this surprise, the community was hyped by the tweet. The excitement of the Shib Army came from the most recent altcoin performance.

On Wednesday, SHIB saw a surge in its price earlier that day, with an 8.58% increase from $0.00001201 to $0.00001304 later that day.

Vietnam has been considered one of the world leaders in cryptocurrency usage over the years, recording one of the highest crypto adoptions among its population worldwide. The country is the home of Sky Mavis, the team that introduced the popular play-to-earn game "Axie Infinity."

Compared to the U.S, Russia and China, Vietnam is ranked second in the world in terms of on-chain crypto transactions and retail value. The Southeast Asian country also is one of the top five highest in the world when it comes to accessing or visiting crypto websites.

Data from cryptocurrency platform Triple A revealed that despite this feat, only 6.1% of Vietnam's total population, or more than 5.9 million people own cryptocurrency. It means the country has excellent unrealized potential for any crypto company.

Perhaps, Kusama saw this potential and likes to explore it more, aside from creating a strong Shib Army in the region. Following its price surge a few hours earlier, SHIB was trading down 6.01% at $0.00001158 with a 24-hour volume of $994,428,767, according to the latest data from CoinMarketCap.
