XRP Vs Chainlink

It's the kind of post that sends investors reaching for the buy button.

The documents tell a smaller, more sober story. And XRP's price, clinging to $1.01 on August 11, clearly hasn't gotten the triumphant memo.

What the Treasury Document Actually Says

HM Treasury's Wholesale Financial Markets Digital Strategy is real and ambitious. It commits the government to three tracks: killing off paper-based settlement, scaling distributed ledger technology for live trading, and appointing an industry figure to coordinate the private sector.

Here's the part the viral threads skip. The gov.uk strategy names no blockchain, no protocol, and no company. Ripple, XRP, and the XRP Ledger are absent from the government's own paper entirely.

Andy Burnham's name appears nowhere in it, nor in the City of London Corporation's supporting materials. "Ripple is in the room" is true. "The Treasury endorsed XRP" is not.

Now the part skeptics undersell. Ripple's seat is legitimate and substantive. It's one of 54 firms in the taskforce led by Chris Woolard, the ex-FCA executive now serving as Wholesale Digital Markets Champion, and it's working on secondary markets, tokenized collateral, and DIGIT, the UK's planned digital gilt instrument.

Onchain funds, bonds and repo "aren't experiments. They're already happening." - Ripple

Its credentials are heavyweight: a $1.25 billion Hidden Road acquisition and a live Santander UK partnership. XRPL now hosts roughly $3.97 billion in tokenized real-world assets, with its institutional holder base up about 44% in a month. This is a credible enterprise player, not a meme.

Where Ripple's Involvement Is Genuinely Real

But three things get blurred into one, and they shouldn't. Ripple is a company. XRP is a tradable token. XRPL is a ledger. A policy-taskforce seat, shared with BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan, says nothing about whether the XRPL gets chosen for settlement, and even less about demand for the token.

Digital assets are "close to zero percent" of Ripple's roughly $16 trillion in annual payments. - Brad Garlinghouse, CEO, Ripple

That's Ripple's own CEO describing the gap. Adoption of the rails doesn't automatically flow to the coin. Even the eye-catching £33 billion economic-boost figure traces to a City of London industry projection, not a Treasury forecast.

XRP Price Today: Knuckles White on $1

The tape is the tell. On August 11, XRP trades near $1.01, roughly 71% below its $3.66 peak from a year ago, sitting below every meaningful moving average.

The 50-day EMA around $1.11 is the first ceiling, the 100-day near $1.20 the real wall, and $1.04 then the $1 line are the floors that have to hold. A CLARITY Act vote is expected in the Senate next week, but the date that actually matters for this story is spring 2027, when the live tokenized-repo trial goes live.

So the question every XRP holder should sit with: does a taskforce seat alongside the biggest names in finance eventually translate into XRPL settlement and real token demand, or is this just the latest institutional headline the market keeps overreading while XRP quietly fights to stay above a dollar?
