Sir Patrick Stewart wed his longtime girlfriend, jazz singer Sunny Ozell, over the weekend in a ceremony presided over by his friend and “X-Men” co-star, Sir Ian McKellen, reports said.

People reported that the ceremony, attended by 100 friends and family, took place beside Lake Tahoe. Stewart, 73, confirmed the news on Twitter, on Sunday, by posting a snap of himself with Ozell, 35, submerged in a ball pool.

The couple dated for five years after meeting in Brooklyn, N.Y., back in 2008. Stewart was at the Brooklyn Academy of Music starring in Macbeth at the time, while Ozell was working as a waitress at Franny’s, a local restaurant, according to a Grub Street report.

This is Stewart’s third marriage. The British actor has two children from his marriage to Sheila Falconer, a choreographer, from 1966 to 1990. He was later married to film producer Wendy Neuss in 2000, but they called it quits in 2003.

McKellen’s role in officiating the ceremony was revealed in March of this year when the veteran actor told UK chat show host Jonathan Ross that he was “going to marry Patrick.”

"How else do you put that? I am going to officiate at his wedding," McKellen said during the show, BBC reported. McKellen added that the wedding would take place in Massachusetts or "in the middle of America, somewhere" where he could get a "one day marriage designation," which would enable him to legally preside over a wedding ceremony.

"I've done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership," in the UK, McKellen told Ross. "I was crying my eyes out."

Soon after Stewart’s wedding, McKellen posted a photograph on his Facebook account that shows him holding a "Doctor of Divinity" certificate and a T-shirt with the word "Minister" written on it.

"I played my part," he captioned the picture, referring to Stewart’s wedding.
