Kody Brown of "Sister Wives" has claimed his ex-wife, Christine Brown, was criticizing him behind his back for a specific purpose, which was to get another man in her life.

"What she's actually doing is -- [he] broke my baby's heart, I don't respect him, [he's a] coward, I don't respect him, [he] picks favorites, I don't respect him -- just name it. She's been sh-t talking me," Kody said during Sunday's episode of the TLC series.

The 53-year-old reality star explained Christine's purpose for doing the same, "She's trying to assuage her guilt by saying I'm a bad man. And I get it. She needs to do that so she can find another man who will trust her. Because if she leaves a good man, most guys are going to go, 'This is risky.'"

Kody went on to share he never really loved Christine, but accepted her in his polygamist marriage because of her background.

Christine and Kody were married from 1994 to 2021, and they share six kids together. Kody got spiritually married to Meri in 1990, alongside Janelle, who has been married to him since 1993. He then officially married Robyn in 2014.

Considering Christine's background, her parents were also into a polygamist lifestyle. However, she never disclosed how many wives her dad had or the number of siblings she has.

"Christine was basically royalty in our church," Kody explained how their relationship began. "I look back and it wasn't fair for me to go, 'Oh, this will look good for me.'"

During the interview, Kody was asked by the host Sukanya Krishnan if it was his "ego," which led him to choose Christine, to which he replied, "Oh, I was a polygamist. It's all ego, baby."

In the same episode, Christine was separately asked about what kind of man she was looking forward to introducing into her life.

"Just someone who treats women well," Christine said.

Christine split with Kody in November 2021, following which Janelle and Meri also left their husband last year. Now, Robyn is the only wife left with Kody.

Last month, Kody and Christine's 21-year-old daughter Gwendlyn Brown shared she doesn't really like her stepmother as a person.

"I don't really like her as a person," Gwendlyn said about Robyn. "Watching her [on Sister Wives] makes me like her less, for sure."
