The most recent episode of “Sister Wives” contained some bittersweet moments for the Brown family, specifically Meri and Kody, after Meri’s mother, who featured in the episode, passed away a few days before airing.

Meri took to Instagram on Sunday to share that her mother, Bonnie Ahlstrom, who had recently turned 76, had suddenly passed away on Friday, March 26.

“76 years and 17 days was not enough time for the world to feel the beautiful spirit of this beautiful woman,” she wrote. “This woman whose life mission was to give, to love, to serve. This woman who only knew how to do for others. This woman who would drop everything for you. This woman who was strong, resilient, compassionate. This woman who was a safe place to land, no matter where, no matter when. This woman, this beautiful woman, my mom.”

“She left us suddenly, unexpected, and extremely way too soon and I literally don’t know how I'm going to do the rest of my life without her,” she continued. “Mom, I love you beyond the words I can express here, but I know you know that. You are loved, you are missed, and I know you are so happy celebrating on the other side with dad, hugging your daughter and son who left us too soon, reuniting with your parents, and getting to know your dad. Love them all, hug them all, and be happy. Or rather, just continue filling that space around you with the light that you always do. I love you Mom!”

Her passing came just two days before the most recent episode of the TLC series, where Meri, who was quarantining in Flagstaff with her daughter, Mariah, and Mariah’s fiancée Audrey, called her mother for a video chat and revealed that because she was over 70, they felt it was better for her to come live with Meri for the time-being during the pandemic, and since Mariah and Audrey had left Chicago, they were going to move into the bed and breakfast Meri and her mother had been running in Parowan, Utah, and take over running it so that Bonnie could be safe.

As the episode unfolded, Meri then drove up to Utah as well to pick up her mother and bring her to Flagstaff, and she later explained the situation to Kody when he came to her house.

Kody took to Twitter during the episode and reflected on seeing his mother-in-law on-screen so soon after her real-life passing, admitting he would also miss his mother-in-law, quoting that with her there, “Heaven is nearly full.”

He then went on to clarify what the comment meant, explaining to a fan that it was a comment of honor.

Meri has remained off of Twitter since the previous week’s episode.

“Sister Wives” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on TLC.
