Around 100 celebrities, actors, singers and rock stars are taking part in the photo shoot for Karl Lagerfeld's and Carine Roitfeld's book project, The Little Black Jacket.

Included in the list of celebrities are American actress Sarah Jessica Parker, Georgia May Jagger, Alice Dellal, Maïwenn, Laetitia Casta and Virginie Ledoyen. All of them wore the iconic little black jacket their own way for the photo shoot.

Created during the fifties by the influential French fashion designer Cococ Chanel, the jacket has been endlessly reinvented by Karl Lagerfeld in each of his collections ever since 1983, in the fundamental Chanel color black for the most part.

In the book, Karl Lagerfeld pays tribute to the classic creation with over a hundred photographs. The jacket has been adapted and worn differently by some of today's personalities in contemporary culture.

This includes the jacket being transformed into a headdress for American actress Sarah Jessica Parker, slipped on by the French singer, Vanessa Paradis, or adapted to Alice Dellal's neo-punk look.

The Chanel jacket has become the symbol of certain elegance, feminine, with an air of nonchalance, classic and timeless, that is of all times, said Karl Lagerfeld in Paris after the photo shoot.

The book will reportedly accompany the opening of an exhibition dedicated to it, which will run in Tokyo from March 24 to April 15.
