Although Sofia Richie appeared committed to her relationship with Scott Disick, those close to the 21-year-old claim that her father, Lionel Richie, warned her about getting back together with the father of three amid rumors he has been flirting with his ex-girlfriend, Kourtney Kardashian.

In the past, the singer has criticized his daughter’s relationship with Disick. However, insiders revealed that the “American Idol” judge just wants the model to move on.

According to Life & Style, a source claimed the 71-year-old thinks his daughter is “better off” without Disick. “Lionel was never a huge fan of Scott,” the alleged insider revealed.

“He’s warned her not to get back with him but at the same time isn’t forcing his opinion on her. Sofia is still so young and has her whole life ahead of her, and Lionel doesn’t want to see her settling down with the wrong guy.”

A source previously told Us Weekly that Disick and Richie’s relationship had an underlying issue surrounding the 37-year-old’s feelings for Kardashian.

“Scott is always going to be in love with Kourtney, and that’s something Sofia has had to face since even before she got serious with him,” the insider told the publication.

“It’s been an ongoing thing. It just became more apparent that his family was more of a priority than she was, and his family would be his main priority over anything and anyone.”

Disick’s behavior reportedly began to change amid the coronavirus pandemic, which made Richie realize that the reality star needed to seek help.

“Sofia noticed that he wasn’t doing well and gave him an ultimatum, and in the end, it seemed like Scott was more focused on Kourtney and his kids than her,” the insider revealed.

Following the split, Disick has been spending time with Kardashian, and their three children, sons Mason, and Reign, and daughter, Penelope.
