Some Ragu pasta sauces are being recalled due to the discovery of plastic bits.

Ragu is a brand that makes Italian-style sauces and condiments with their tagline being “America’s Favorite Pasta Sauce Brand.” It’s been around since 1937, making it one of the oldest pasta sauce brands as well. As such, Ragu has been part of the American dinner for over 82 years. This brand of Italian-style sauces and condiments is considered a staple in any household as it is perfect for rushed dinners, having to cook for unexpected guests, and the like.

However, you may want to check your recent purchase of Ragu as the company has issued a voluntary recall for numerous flavors of its pasta sauces.

The company said in a press release last Saturday that the sauces may contain fragments of plastic but that they have not received reports of any consumer injuries. Mizkan issued the recall out of “an abundance of caution,” according to the press release. The company warns that any recalled sauces should not be consumed and should be discarded.

Consumers can look for a code on the jar’s yellow cap, as well as the Best Use By dates to determine whether or not your products are included in the voluntary recall

All of the sauces being recalled were produced from June 4 to June 8. The company has stated in the press release that it is working with retailers from all over the nation to remove any of the remaining affected sauces from store shelves.

Consumers who happen to possess one of the affected pasta sauces can contact Mizkan America’s customer service hotline at 800-328-7248 in order to receive a coupon for a replacement.
