  • Sony announced the official price and release date of the PS5 at the PlayStation 5 Showcase
  • The company also launched several game trailers
  • One of them is the launch trailer of the highly-awaited sequel of a major PS4 exclusive title

Sony Interactive Entertainment and SIE Santa Monica Studio launched a new “God of War” title, which could be called “God of War 2.” The Japanese gaming giant saved the announcement at the finale of the Playstation 5 Showcase event. The “God Of War” sequel is one of the heavily speculated titles even before it was officially launched.

Aside from the much-awaited announcement of the official price and release date of the PS5, Sony’s event is a fairly strong showcase. Interestingly, before the show ends, Sony surprised a lot of fans with the launch of the trailer of the next “God of War” title releasing in 2021. While not much was shown in the trailer, fans were teased that “Ragnarok is coming” and Kratos warned players to prepare themselves.

Sony Santa Monica did not disappoint and showed off the industry’s first-ever look at Kratos on PS5. The “God Of War” main protagonist looks considerably better compared to the Kratos fans saw at its release on PlayStation 2. Players who have enjoyed “God of War” on the Playstation 4, the coming of Ragnarok makes a lot of sense.

The end of “God of War” planted the seeds for the Old Norse story Ragnarok and ended with the Norse god of thunder Thor showing up at the main protagonist’s house. Thor is seemingly looking for revenge after Kratos killed his brother Baldur and his sons. Fans are hoping that “God Of War 2” would continue the story of Kratos and his son Atreus, who is the trickster god Loki.

The “God of War 2” combat might be a satisfying mix of rapid-fire and chaotic with a weighty feel. Sony did not reveal the exact release date of the much-awaited “God of War” sequel, just the 2021 release window. The game would be exclusively available on the PS5.

As a series, “God of War” started in 2005 and was released on PS2. Since then, the game has become one of the biggest and best series.
