Sony’s subscription service for the PlayStation will be getting a massive overhaul later this year following an official announcement from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s top brass.

PlayStation Plus will be merging with PlayStation Now to give players a combined subscription service that provides both online functionality and free game offers. Over 700 games will be available in the new PS Plus library, SIE president and CEO Jim Ryan confirmed on the PS Blog.

Starting June, PS Plus subscribers will be able to choose between three membership tiers that offer varied perks and benefits. These tiers are as follows:

PS Plus Essential

This subscription tier is basically the same as the current PS Plus plan. Users will have access to the usual selection of two free games per month as well as exclusive discounts on the PS Store, access to multiplayer game modes and cloud storage for save files.

The price for PS Plus Essential is the same as the current pricing model for the standard PS Plus subscription.

PS Plus Extra

This tier provides all of the benefits of PS Plus Essential. However, Extra subscribers will have access to approximately 400 free games for both the PS4 and PS5.
