Spotify has finally launched the ability to play music using Siri on some Apple devices not limited to the iPhone and iPad, reports said. The third-party music streaming service also now has an Apple TV app, allowing Apple TV users to play their music on their device.

Previously, iPhone owners who wished to play their music on Spotify using Siri need to the Apple assistant to play their music specifically on the streaming app. Failure to mention “Spotify” would always result to the assistant playing music from Apple’s own Apple Music app.

This changes now as Spotify has launched the ability to play music with Siri, The Verge reported. The feature was first seen working in a previous beta version, but is now made available to all users with Apple devices running iOS 13.

According to Spotify, Siri can now control playback on the iPhone, iPad and AirPods. Those wearing Apple’s truly wireless headphones only need to command Siri while wearing them, and the voice assistant will play the songs, albums and playlists they have on Spotify.

Those using Apple CarPlay can also take advantage of the new feature. Those who own a HomePod can also use Siri to play Spotify music, but only via AirPlay. Apple Watch owners, however, will be disappointed to know that the feature won’t work on the Apple wearable.

Other additions

Aside from Siri integration across iOS devices, Spotify also gained an additional feature, some enhancements and a new Apple TV app. First, there’s the new feature called “Data Saver.” This feature automatically turns on when an Apple running on iOS 13 has the Low Data Mode turned on.

Next, Spotify has redesigned its iPad app to take advantage of the device’s wider display. Things like animated Album Art, however, don’t work as these are designed for smaller devices like the iPhone. The iPad app looks neat, though.

Lastly, the Spotify app is now available for download on the Apple TV. Users who want to have Spotify on their Apple TV can simply proceed to the tvOS App Store to get the app manually, or enable “automatically install apps” in tvOS settings for the device to download and install it automatically.
