Square Enix remains tight-lipped about its game in partnership with Marvel, “The Avengers Project.” Despite the company’s silence, a report claims that the upcoming game will feature gameplay reminiscent of some of its titles.

Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” is making huge waves in cinemas at the very moment. The International Business Times reported that it has earned a whopping $1.2 billion worldwide during its opening weekend. Clearly, Marvel’s blockbuster has made it big in the area of movies, satisfying many of its movies’ fans all over the world.

Over at the gaming world, however, a lot of fans are hoping to hear something about “The Avengers Project.” Fans haven’t heard anything about the game since it was announced in 2017, making many of them think that Square Enix has already shelved it.

A report from the Express, however, said the game developers are still working on the game, and that it will feature interesting gameplay mechanics.

The news outlet, citing a since-removed post in ResetEra, said “The Avengers Project” will be an action-adventure game in third-person perspective. What’s more, it said the game will feature “melee combat, cover shooting, stealth sections and boss fights.“

Netizens talking about the same details in another ResetEra thread noted how these gameplay features seem fit for characters such as Black Widow, Captain America, the Winter Soldier and Black Panther.

The announcement trailer, however, clearly showed that the game will feature the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. Whether these characters, and the ones netizens are enthusiastically speculating about, will join the game or not remains to be seen. What’s known is that these heroes will soon “reassemble,” as the trailer suggests.

Currently, Square Enix is working on expanding two of its Canada-based studios: Square Enix Montreal and Eidos Montreal, Venture Beat reported. Eidos Montreal, along with game developer Crystal Dynamics, is working on “The Avengers Project.”

While the company’s expansion might mean good things for the anticipated game, what the gaming public needs now is an update about it. Perhaps, Square Enix might say something about it during this year’s E3.
