The Golden State Warriors could be without Stephen Curry for the remainder of the regular season. A foot injury will sideline the two-time MVP indefinitely, though there is optimism that Curry will be ready for the start of the 2022 NBA playoffs.

Curry is expected to return to the court in time for the postseason, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. An MRI showed that Curry sprained his foot after colliding with Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart in Wednesday's game.

More tests will be performed on Curry's foot, according to ESPN.

Even a small chance that Curry could miss playoff games would have to be a significant concern for Golden State. The Warriors are title favorites but would have little chance of making a championship run without a healthy Curry.

In 64 games, Curry is averaging 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists. The point guard was viewed as the clear MVP frontrunner until he fell into a career-worst shooting slump in January. Curry has returned to form in March, shooting 51.5% from the field and 41.4% from 3-point range.

Draymond Green recently returned from a two-month absence with a back injury. The Warriors went 16-13 without Green in the lineup.

Klay Thompson is second on the team, averaging 17.8 points per game. The sharpshooter has struggled since returning from 2.5 years of missed games because of injuries. Thompson is shooting 41.2% from the field and 35.5% from 3-point range.

The Warriors are the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. Golden State trails the No. 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies by a game and owns a 3.5-game edge over the No. 4 Utah Jazz.

Golden State is currently on track to face the No. 6 seed Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
