Before President Barack Obama addressed the nation with the 2015 State of the Union, STFU was already a top-searched topic when used in conjunction with SOTU. While some people remarked they simply confused SOTU for STFU, a slang term that mean shut the f--- up, others wanted to use STFU purposely.
