While the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots boast impressive defenses, there is expected to be plenty of points scored in Super Bowl LII. The matchup might be the riskiest to bet on the over/under in quite some time.

According to oddsmakers, the over/under for Sunday's title game is 48.5 points. It's well below last year's 58 points when the Patriots faced the Atlanta Falcons' dynamic offense.

The Patriots and Eagles both averaged 28.6 points per game and behind just the Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots averaged a league-best 394.2 yards per game, while the Eagles were seventh at 365.8.

But the Eagles defense finished fourth in points allowed (18.4) and third in total yards per game (306.5). While the Patriots defense finished 29th in yards allowed (366.0), they finished just barely behind the Eagles in points allowed (18.5).

Both defenses performed even better in the playoffs, with the Eagles allowing an average of 8.5 points per game, while the Patriots allowed an average of 17.

In the playoffs, the Eagles posted 38 points against the Minnesota Vikings but just 15 against the Falcons. The Patriots scored 24 points against the Jacksonville Jaguars and 35 against the Tennessee Titans.

According to the American Gaming Association, an estimated $4.76 billion will be bet on this year's Super Bowl.
