Kevin Smith gave his fans a brief update on what went down during the first shooting day of the “Supergirl” episode he is directing.

In response to a tweet from a “Supergirl” crew member, Smith revealed that the episode’s first day of filming had been so much fun. “I had a blast on @TheCWSupergirl CatCo set today!” Smith wrote on the social media site on Wednesday, Oct. 26. “Tomorrow it’s all DEO action and my first day shooting the cape & costume!!!”

On the same day, Smith also took to Instagram to share a photo of him from the CatCo set. “Just wrapped Day One on the episode of @supergirlcw I’m directing! Now I get to kick back and catch up on the news... #KevinSmith #supergirl #supergirlseason2,” he captioned the picture, in which he’s seen holding a Daily Planet newspaper.

Smith is directing Season 2, episode 9, titled “Supergirl Lives,” which is a nod to the canceled “Superman Lives” movie that he wrote.

Plot details about the episode are being kept under wraps, but in an Instagram post Smith shared a week ago, he wrote that his “Supergirl” directorial debut is “filled with deep-cuts characters” from some of his favorite stories in the DC Comics canon.

“It [is] … bigger than anything I’ve ever directed before — even #Dogma!” Smith added .“So naturally, I’m TERRIFIED. This material is way above my pay grade: the kind of stuff I’ve loved watching my whole life but never tried to make myself. It’s pure comic book and science fiction fantasy and it reads like it should look like a 70’s album cover. In a very First World way, this is scaring the s--- out of me. So that’s gotta be the best reason to do it.”

“Supergirl” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
