Melissa Benoist as Kara, Chris Wood as Mon-El
The synopsis for Season 2, episode 9 of “Supergirl” reveals how Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) end up in Slaver’s Moon. The CW

Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood) are going to find themselves in a completely different planet in Season 2, episode 9 of “Supergirl.”

The synopsis for the winter premiere of the CW series reveals that the Kryptonian and the Daxamite will be transported to another planet called Slaver’s Moon while looking for a missing woman named Izzy (Harley Quinn Smith). The Girl of Steel starts tracking Izzy’s whereabouts after she’s moved by her story. Although Snapper (Ian Gomez) orders Kara to ignore Izzy’s case, the budding journalist still decides to investigate her disappearance.

Kara takes Mon-El with her to the last place Izzy was seen, and the duo finds themselves thrust through a portal to Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. Unfortunately for Kara and Mon-El, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means the two are stripped of their powers.

Krypton’s Rao is also a red sun. And under their native sun, Kryptonians are only as strong, fast and durable as humans of Earth and possess no extraordinary superpowers. It’s unclear, however, why Kara is bleeding in the trailer for the episode.

The episode also marks the return of Roulette (Dichen Lachman), who happens to be the leader of the trafficking ring. In the preview clip for the episode, Roulette meets someone in secret. “We’ve got to stop meeting like this,” she tells an unidentified character.

It’s unclear how long Kara and Mon-El are going to be stuck on Slaver’s Moon, but Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for her sister’s disappearance. She feels that she has become too complacent in watching out for her sister since she started her relationship with Maggie (Floriana Lima).

“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 9, titled “Supergirl Lives,” airs on Monday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
