Teri Hatcher has started filming “Supergirl.”

Hatcher took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a couple of photos documenting her first day on the set of the CW series. In the first picture she uploaded, the Golden Globe-winning actress is seen having a wardrobe fitting. In the caption for the photo, Hatcher wrote that she’s excited to share her “Supergirl” experience with all her followers.

In another snapshot, Hatcher smiles at the camera together with “Supergirl” actress Melissa Benoist. In the caption for the pic, the 52-year-old actress calls Benoist a “total ray of sunshine” and thanks the rest of the cast for their warm welcome.

Details about Hatcher’s role are being kept under wraps, but Variety reported last month that her character is Season 2’s new big bad. Kevin Sorbo also revealed to Entertainment Tonight last week that Hatcher’s mystery role is the wife of his yet-to-be-revealed villainous character. Sorbo added that his and Hatcher’s characters hail from “another planet that is an arch-rival planet of Krypton.”

“Supergirl” has yet to completely tackle Mon-El’s (Chris Wood) backstory, so it’s likely that Sorbo and Hatcher’s characters are from Mon-El’s home planet, Daxam. And since “Supergirl” is basically a family drama masquerading as an action-adventure series, it won’t be surprising if Sorbo and Hatcher’s characters turn out to be Mon-El’s parents. If the fan theory proposing that Mon-El is the Prince of Daxam happens to be true, then that would make Sorbo and Hatcher’s roles the king and queen of Daxam.

Hatcher’s “Supergirl” casting was announced by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg last month. “No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg, and the fans,” said Kreisberg on behalf of his fellow exec producer Greg Berlanti at the time.

Hatcher played the role of Lois Lane on the ABC series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997. Thirteen years later, Hatcher played Lena Lane, mother of Lois Lane in an episode of “Smallville.” Hatcher is set to make her debut appearance on “Supergirl” in Season 2, episode 17.

“Supergirl” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
