  • Microsoft is anticipated to launch the Surface Laptop 4 this year
  • The new device is rumored to come in four variants
  • Its AMD variant reportedly would be available at lower specs

The highly anticipated announcement and release of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 could be happening this April. If the latest leaks are anything to go by, it appears that earlier rumors about the Surface Laptop 4's variants and specs are true, after all.

The latest leak about the Surface Laptop 4 comes from Microsoft's official support pages, which now include a pair of placeholder listings for the unannounced laptop. These pages were spotted by Twitter user WalkingCat. With the new pieces of evidence out, many industry watchers believe that the Redmond-based tech titan might announce its new Surface Laptop very soon.

One placeholder page is for the Surface Laptop 4 with Intel processors and the other is for the variant running on AMD CPUs. These placeholders seemingly confirm previous reports that the laptop would be available in Intel and AMD processors. The Twitter user speculates that with the support pages already out, the official announcement could happen as early as April 12.

Contrary to earlier speculations that the official unveiling might happen at the rumored Surface Spring event, Wccftech believes it might be just a simple press release. The report cites the global health crisis that forced a lot of tech giants to resort to press releases or pre-recorded digital presentations instead of the usual announcement at an event.

While the placeholders are now gone, the specs of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 AMD and Intel models were already leaked by WinFuture in March. According to the site, the AMD variants house the Ryzen 5 4680U and Ryzen 7 4980U. On the other hand, the Intel models have the Core i7-1185G7 and Core i5-1145G7 under the hood.

The report claimed that the AMD variant of Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 would be available at lower specs while the Intel models will have up to 32 GB RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. Apparently, the AMD models will only have a maximum of 16 GB RAM and 512 GB memory. The AMD models, however, are rumored to be available in 13.5-inches. Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 might be available in four variants based on the FCC filing.
