An "unruly" patient at a Florida hospital has been arrested after initiating a fight and biting off a security guard’s finger.

Dillon Metoyer, 19, was being treated by a nurse at the Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers on Monday when he suddenly became "unruly." The nurse called the hospital security guards to help her deal with the patient.

"Here we are, you have someone who is trying to render aid, trying to help a person, and this (suspect) has no regard for their safety or their life," Sheriff Carmine Marceno with the Lee County Sheriff’s office said in a video shared on Facebook.

The guards arrived at the scene and attempted to restrain Metoyer as he was "acting erratically." But the patient instigated a brawl with the two security guards. He head-butted one guard and bit off part of the second security guard’s middle finger, the Miami Herald reported

“Two security guards arrive ... and the patient head-butts one of the security guards. And then the other security guard, while trying to restrain him, he bites a part of the finger off on the security guard,” Marceno said, the outlet reported.

The nurse at the scene did not sustain any injury.

Metoyer was soon arrested at the hospital itself. He has been charged with battery (touch or strike) and felony battery. Metoyer was released on Tuesday after posting a $5000 bail, WFTV reported. Metoyer is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 14.

"This finger-biting felon bit off more than he can chew and he’s getting a taste of justice," Marceno said in the video.

Authorities did not reveal the cause behind Metoyer's erratic behavior during the treatment or why he was admitted to the hospital.

Investigators did not release the identities of the security guards.

In a similar incident that happened two months ago, a man in India was arrested after slapping an officer and biting his finger. The man got in a heated argument with the cop after the latter asked him to show his vehicle documents during a traffic stop, and it escalated into a physical assault.
