  • Sylvester Stallone said his brief separation from wife Jennifer Flavin was a "very tumultuous time"
  • The "Rocky" star shared that he learned his love for his family "takes precedence" over his work
  • Stallone said he's being a bit more involved in his children's lives these days

Sylvester Stallone reflected on his brief split from his wife Jennifer Flavin.

Stallone and Flavin separated in August after 25 years of marriage, but just a month after she filed for divorce, the couple called it off and announced that they'd decided to get back together.

The "Rocky" star looked back at their split in a new interview, calling it "a very tumultuous time."

"There was a reawakening of what was more valuable than anything, which is my love for my family. It takes precedence over my work, and that was a hard lesson to learn," Stallone told the Sunday Times.

The 76-year-old actor also talked about being more present for his family, especially his children. Stallone shares sons Sage and Seargeoh with his ex-wife Sasha Czack. He also shares three daughters — Sophia, 26, Sistine, 24, and Scarlet, 20 — with Flavin.

"I didn't pay enough attention when they were growing up," he shared. "I was so career-oriented, and now I go, 'OK, I don't have that much runway up ahead, and I want to start asking them about their lives.'"

Stallone said that he is making up for lost time nowadays with his children with Flavin. He admitted, however, that when he started asking his daughters about their day, they were "a little monosyllabic" at first.

"Then I heard one say, 'I was just thinking about you.' Oh, my God. I've never heard that before in my life. When a daughter knows you care, she's there forever," he told the publication.

Flavin and Stallone first sparked split rumors in August when the actor covered up his tattoo of his wife with an ink of his late dog.

Days later, news broke that Flavin filed for divorce from Stallone at a court in Palm Beach County, Florida.

At the time, Stallone said in a statement to People, "I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues."

Flavin also issued a statement to People, saying, "I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone. While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters. I ask for privacy for our family as we amicably move forward."

The former model was photographed without her wedding band as early as 11 days before she filed for divorce on Aug 19, according to Page Six.

But in late September, Stallone's rep confirmed that the actor and Flavin had called off the divorce and reconciled.

"They decided to meet back up at home, where they talked and were able to work out their differences," the spokesperson said in a statement to Page Six. "They are both extremely happy."

On Oct. 7, two weeks after getting back together, Flavin and Stallone were spotted in New York City. In one outing, they were seen with Leonardo DiCaprio and his father, and both were wearing their wedding bands, People reported.
