  • El Mousa and Hall haven't hung out as buddies, but they support the kids during their soccer games
  • The "Flip or Flop" star will always be protective of his kids and put them first

Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack are doing their best to co-parent their kids, but they were photographed with their new partners in what seemed to be a heated exchange over the weekend. The issue prompted many to examine El Moussa's relationship with his ex-wife's new spouse.

"Tarek and Josh haven’t hung out as buddies and don’t know each other well," an unnamed insider told Us Weekly. "He’s accepting of Josh being a stepfather as well but is always going to be protective of his kids and put them first."

Earlier this month, the "Flip or Flop" star opened up about his co-parenting relationship with Haack. The exes share two kids — daughter Taylor, 11, and son Brayden, 6.

"Honestly, you know, we really focus on our household," the "Flipping 101 With Tarek El Moussa" star told Us Weekly. "[Heather and I] have certain things we do at our household, and I know [Christina] focuses on her household and there’s certain things she does at her household."

He added that they "try to be on the same page as often as possible" and acknowledged that they have different households.

El Moussa also mentioned his relationship with Haack's new husband. According to him, they are civil.

"[We’re] only around him every once in a while, you know, [at] soccer and that’s mainly it," El Moussa said. "We say our ‘hi’s, and we have a few group texts going and that’s about it."

El Moussa also spoke about his relationship with Haack's second ex-husband Ant Anstead in another interview last year. According to him, they have gotten to know each other a little bit. Haack and Anstead share a 2-year-old son, Hudson.

"And my kids and his kid are, you know, they’re family and it’s like a big extended family," El Moussa said about their arrangement.

"You got me, you have Heather, you have Ant, you have Renée, you have Christina, you have Josh, you have Taylor, you got Brayden," he added. "So, it’s a modern-day family."

El Moussa's new wife, Heather Rae Young, also said it was nice having a friendly relationship with the rest of the members of their blended family. She noted that "the most important thing is the kids."

Daily Mail shared photos of Young seemingly arguing with Haack and El Moussa holding the "Selling Sunset" star's arm trying to keep her away from his ex-wife during a soccer game Saturday. The outlet said El Moussa and Hall also had a nose-to-nose spat, prompting the soccer coach to intervene.

The four reunited Sunday when Brayden was hospitalized and had to undergo an emergency appendectomy. On Monday, Haack lauded Hall, El Moussa and Young for their teamwork.

Haack also addressed the controversial soccer photo involving the four of them in a statement issued through a rep.

"A personal matter was discussed and has since been resolved. We are focused on co-parenting as a team moving forward," they said in a statement to Page Six.
