One of the saddest moments of “Teen Mom 2” Monday night was when Isaac learned that his stepfather, Javi Marroquin, would not play a significant role in his life anymore.

“Yeah it was sad to see him like that, but he does have his own room at my house,” Marroquin told Radar Online in an exclusive interview Wednesday. “He’s doing a lot better now.”

When Marroquin returned from a deployment overseas with the Air Force in June, ex-wife Kailyn Lowry filed for divorce. That meant Marroquin moved out of their home and essentially out of Isaac’s life. In one heart-wrenching scene, he asked why he wouldn’t have his own bedroom in Marroquin’s house, even though his brother, Lincoln, Marroquin’s biological son, would get one.

“I don’t know if you’re going to have your own room at his house,” Lowry told her son in Monday’s episode. “I think if you go over there you can stay in Lincoln’s room. I don’t think you’re going to have your own room babe.” Isaac’s biological father is Lowry’s ex-boyfriend, Jo Rivera.

Even though he and Lowry are divorced, Marroquin doesn’t regret marrying the “Teen Mom 2” reality star. “I don’t regret marrying her. Maybe we could’ve waited a bit longer. I feel like all our friends said, ‘Oh, you’re 19 years old. You guys haven’t even seen life yet.’ But we got married and everything was great,” Marroquin told Radar Online in a video interview Wednesday. “Our marriage wasn’t always on the rocks. We did have a lot of fun and she was my best friend.”

While there aren’t any regrets involved, it’s unlikely they will reconcile. “There’s nothing that could be done, said, heard or whatever,” he said. “I think we both know that it’s just too much.”

They could form a friendship, eventually, though. “At the end of the day, that’s my son’s mother, so I have a lot of love for Kail and I have a lot of love for who she was,” Marroquin said. “If she’s going through a rough patch, I’m still there for her.” The couple is doing well co-parenting Lincoln, but “to this day” they are still having a problem getting along. “Maybe in the future,” he mused about a friendship.

Season 8 of “Teen Mom 2” airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
