Elon Musk had big news for Cybertruck fans on Thursday evening as the Tesla (TSLA) CEO announced that the EV would finally start selling in 2023.

The news from Musk came during the automaker’s Cyber Rodeo – the grand opening event for its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.

The Gigafactory will eventually become home for the production of the Cybertruck and is expected to become the “highest volume” car factory in the U.S. It will also produce the Model Y SUV, which Tesla plans to scale up to a volume of 500,000 cars per year and possibly to a volume of 1 million units a year, Automotive News reported.

During the Cyber Rodeo, Musk, clad in a black cowboy hat and sunglasses, touted a production-ready version of the Cybertruck with removed door handles. The vehicle is said to be able to sense the driver and open the doors upon their presence, according to Engadget.

Tesla announced the Cybertruck in 2019. It was initially due to release in 2021. High demand for the Model Y SUV and Model 3 sedan pushed the electric truck back further, prompting Tesla to remove its specs and mention on the company’s website without explanation, Inside EVs reported.

Musk apologized for the Cybertruck delays at the Cyber Rodeo. He said to the crowd, according to the New York Times, “We can’t wait to build this here. Sorry for the delay. But you’re going to have this next year, and it’s really going to be great.”

Musk was definitive about the release of the Cybertruck in 2023 at the event – something the billionaire, who has a net worth of $268 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, has hedged on in the past.

During Tesla’s earnings call in January, Musk said that a 2023 delivery of the Cybertruck was “most likely,” according to the Times.

Tesla may have nearly 1.4 million reservations for the Cybertruck already, Inside EVs said.

Tesla’s Cyber Rodeo was an invite-only event with 15,000 attendees, which Musk boasted was the “biggest party on earth.”

As of Friday premarket hours, shares of Tesla were trading at $1,058.73, up $1.47 or 0.14%.
