  • The 15-time major champion's back problems have been recurring for years

Even before the tragic car crash, Tiger Woods’ future in golf may have already been uncertain.

On Tuesday morning, news broke that Woods’ car crashed in a traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in Los Angeles, California.

As per Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg, the 15-time major champion was rushed to a local hospital after incurring injuries and is now in surgery.

"Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” Steinberg told Golf Digest. “He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support."

While it isn’t known yet whether Woods will be able to play again in the future, some in golf have already predicted that the 82-time PGA Tour winner’s stellar career is nearing its end prior to the horrific car accident.

In a series of tweets compiled by Golf Magic, Sporting Life and Golf writer Ben Coley, as well as some anonymous fans and golfers, expressed their thoughts on one of Woods’ last interviews before the legendary golfer crashed his car.

According to Coley, based on Woods’ appearance, he could be well aware that his recurring back problems might have just marked the beginning of the end of his sporting career.

“He [Woods] looks and sounds like he knows this is his last go at it, doesn't he,” Coley wrote. “Something quite sad about that segment. Those scenes from 2018 and 2019 were just miraculous. We'll look back and ask 'how?' just like we have done with the 2008 US Open.”

“Tiger admits he's only able to putt at the moment with an MRI coming up,” he added. “Clearly not playing anytime soon and there are six weeks to go until Augusta.”

Woods also received a mix of concern and criticism from some golfers and fans on the social media platform.

"Tiger looked so fed up right there," tweeted one golfer.

"Tiger Woods looked absolutely fried in that interview just now," another golfer tweeted. "Bloated, dull-looking face and sounded like he was speaking through a muffler. Honestly reckon this last surgery could be the end for him."

"Just me or did Tiger Woods just look completely zoned out during that interview?" a golf fan wrote.

"He did not look in a good way it must be said," said another golf fan. "While he might compete at The Masters, I'd be very surprised if he makes the cut. Looks and sounds like he knows it could be the end now."
