TikTok Star Mia Khalifa Slams Media Outlets For Referring To Her As ‘Pornstar’

TikTok star Mia Khalifa has lashed out at media outlets for continuing to refer to her as a porn star.

Khalifa, who was active in the porn industry for a brief period back in 2014, recently called out media outlets, accusing them of having a “direct hand” in making her past “inescapable.”

Taking to Twitter on Monday (July 6), Khalifa wrote that she successfully transitioned from porn star to successful sports show host and YouTuber. Since leaving porn, she has also developed two apps and found success as a social media marketer.

In a follow-up tweet, Khalifa emphasized that she does not condone being consistently called a porn star even when news outlets are focusing on her role as an activist.

“This is a direct message to every media/news outlet that refers to me as 'Pornstar': YOU are a part of the problem,” she wrote on Twitter. “You have a direct hand in making my past inescapable, to the point of doing so even when you’re writing about me fighting my exploiters.”

A number of Twitter users have shown their support for her wanting to move away from her past as a porn star. One way to do this, some have advised, would be to stop going by the name “Mia Khalifa.”

The 27-year-old, who was born in Beirut, Lebanon, is also known as Mia Callista.

This sentiment has also been echoed by porn star Abella Danger, who last month engaged in a war of words with Khalifa over the Lebanese-American actress’ decision to highlight only the negative aspects of entering the porn industry. At the time, Danger said Khalifa should consider changing her name if she “regrets” joining the adult entertainment industry.

“She should stop using her porn name then if she regrets it so much,” Danger tweeted.

Khalifa was active in the porn industry for a period of three months when she was 21 and made only 11 films. At one point, she was one of Pornhub’s most famous stars. But she has said that these videos will "haunt" her until the day she dies.

Khalifa has been active on Twitter, detailing her experience in the porn industry in a bid to dissuade young girls from joining it.
