KEY POINTS

  • Tom Brady was spotted screaming into his mobile phone just hours after announcing his retirement from the NFL
  • The former footballer was visibly upset and ended up spitting at one point
  • It is unclear what Brady was saying during the call, which was caught on video

Tom Brady appeared to be not in the mood while talking to someone over the phone following his retirement from the NFL.

On Wednesday, the same day he announced that he was quitting professional football for good, Brady accompanied his 10-year-old daughter, Vivian, to her horseback riding lesson in Miami.

While there, the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback was captured on video screaming into his cellphone and making emphatic gesticulations during what appeared to be a heated conversation, Page Six reported.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion was seen smiling, applauding and filming Vivian, whom he shares with ex-wife Gisele Bundchen, before he stopped to take the phone call with AirPods in his ears.

There was no sound attached to the video, and it is unclear what Brady was saying or who the person on the other end of the call was.

But the outlet noted that his body looked tense during the conversation. Brady also ended up spitting at one point, according to the report.

Jeremy Freeman, a forensic lip reader certified by the Deafness Cognition and Language Research Centre at University College London, examined the video of Brady's phone call and claimed to the Daily Mail that the athlete appeared to be angry with the caller.

The lip reader claimed that Brady appeared to say, "Stop calling me," and later, "You say that today, and that's stupid," as he allegedly tried to explain something pertaining to his retirement.

According to Freeman, Brady then appeared to say, "I've advised you to stay away from her, she's hard work," before asking, "What am I supposed to do?"

The expert claimed that the athlete went on to say, "This has gotta stop," before ending the call by saying, "Hey you gotta come through."

However, Freeman clarified that it was difficult to determine what Brady was saying due to the angle of the video, which was taken from the side view.

Brady announced his NFL retirement Wednesday, exactly a year after he made the same announcement on Feb. 1, 2022. But at the time, he reversed course and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers less than six weeks later for his 23rd and final season.

The decision was followed by months of speculation that his return to the NFL caused tension in his marriage with Bundchen.

On Oct. 28, 2022, Brady and Bundchen announced that they finalized their divorce after 13 years of marriage.

The exes appeared to have remained amicable as they co-parent their daughter Vivian and son Benjamin, 13. The Brazilian supermodel even left a supportive message for Brady on his Instagram video announcing his retirement for the second time.

"Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life," Bundchen wrote in the comments section along with a prayer emoji.
