  • Tottenham is still interested in signing past window target Habib Diallo
  • Diallo is viewed as a perfect backup striker for Harry Kane
  • The Senegalese goalscorer is said to be keen on joining Jose Mourinho's side as well

Tottenham Hotspur is still interested in pursuing Metz striker Habib Diallo, and the interest appears to be mutual, a report said.

The Spurs have managed to keep up with other Premier League clubs in terms of signings this summer. Mourinho’s side has already signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton, Matt Doherty from Wolves and Joe Hart from Burnley. However, Tottenham is still working on bringing in a striker before the transfer window closes.

Among the targets Tottenham is monitoring, Metz striker Diallo is the one who stands out, Football.London reported. The Senegalese goalscorer is described as a player “who fits in with the strong character profile of transfers this summer” after playing a lead role in many games for the Metz last season.

Diallo has managed to tally a total of 12 goals in 26 Ligue 1 starts in the past season for a struggling, newly-promoted Metz side. The 25-year-old is also notable for helping Metz get back into the top flight the season before with his impressive 26 goals in 37 league matches.

Diallo still has two years left on his current contract with the French club. However, it has been said that Tottenham had already made “inquiries” about him during the January transfer window. The Spurs may have revived their interest in Diallo, who is keen on linking up with Mourinho this current window as well, the report added.

Diallo has also been regarded by some as the perfect backup striker for Harry Kane that Tottenham has been looking for.

Apart from scouting a prolific goalscorer like Diallo, Tottenham has also been linked to a move for a well-rounded left-back. Hotspur has been monitoring Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon after his impressive on loan season at Sevilla, according to previous reports.

The Spurs emerged as one of the teams leading the race to sign the 23-year-old, with Manchester United being their toughest competition so far.

It didn’t take long for big-spending clubs to notice Reguilon’s fine form at La Liga. In fact, some even referred to him as a cheaper yet upgraded version of Chelsea star Ben Chilwell.

United, meanwhile, is expected to ramp up its interest in Reguilon. The Red Devils are readying up a major bid for the Los Blancos defender, who is already touted to become a “fan favorite,” Talksport reported.
