  • Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos said Tottenham has been lucky this season
  • Ceballos thinks luck is something the Gunners have been missing this campaign
  • Jose Mourinho made a huge admission ahead of Sunday's north London derby with Arsenal

Heading into Sunday's Arsenal vs. Tottenham north London derby in the Premier League, Gunners midfielder Dani Ceballos has talked about the success of Jose Mourinho and his players this season.

Prior to the 3-3 draw against LASK Friday, a worn-out Tottenham was coming off a five-game winning streak. On Sunday, the Spurs are set to face their local rival Arsenal, who isn’t having its best run this campaign.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo ahead of the derby, Mikel Arteta’s midfield star identified the key difference between Tottenham and Arsenal this year. For Ceballos, the Spurs have been “lucky” for the most part, and while he doesn’t guarantee that Arsenal will end Tottenham’s winning ways, the 24-year-old is certain it will come to an end one way or another.

“Tottenham are playing well and also have had some luck to win some of the games at the end,” Ceballos pointed out. “That is what Arsenal are missing, but yes, [Gareth] Bale has been a nice addition.”

“Although, we will see whether it will last all season because it is going to be long and [Jose] Mourinho’s team will have a hard time maintaining it,” he continued.

Tottenham boss Mourinho also made a huge admission about his team’s rivalry with Arsenal.

According to the renowned manager, the fact that they are facing the Gunners from a better place in the league this season compared to last year is the main story. However, Mourinho also acknowledges that the history between the two clubs is still something the fans are thrilled about.

“It means more when we are not in the position we are now,” the manager explained in a recent press conference. “Because now we are in such a good position it is a little bit different. Because we want the points we are not just like, ‘We want to beat Arsenal because to beat Arsenal is the only good thing we can give to our fans’."

“It happened last season when we played Arsenal in the last part of the season. It was about winning against Arsenal to give something good, to have a good feeling,” he continued. “But we never forget the fact there are historical rivalries and what it means for the fans. Even for people that were not born at Tottenham, and many of us are in this situation. When you arrive at the club you understand the culture, you learn the culture and you share the values with the fans.”
