  • Tottenham failed to score after Tanguy Ndombele's opening minute goal against the Wolves
  • Jose Mourinho expresses his disappointment and revealed a bigger concern
  • The coach will look to resolve the team's issues heading into the next game against Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho challenges his players to reveal what he has told them in the middle of an underwhelming performance against the Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Spurs walked out the Molineux Stadium drained and frustrated. Following the dour 1-1 draw against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Sunday, Tottenham has become the only English Premier League team to have dropped as many points from winning positions this season.

Mourinho’s squad had a hot start with Tanguy Ndombele notching a goal in the opening minute. However, the Spurs played the rest of the game with less efficiency and aggressiveness, allowing the Wolves to score a late equalizer.

After the game, Mourinho lashed out on his team’s lack of determination to win and the fact that they spent “89 minutes” without scoring a single goal.

“When you score in the first minute, you have 89 minutes to score more goals, and we didn’t, and we were not even very close to scoring more goals,” he told Spurs TV.

When asked if he was “frustrated” with Tottenham not capitalizing on an early lead, Mourinho exclaimed, “[Frustrated?] I would like the [Spurs] players to tell you what I told [them] at half time. I would like them to tell you.”

In a separate interview with the Guardian, Mourinho admitted that the game proved him that there’s a bigger “concern” behind just not scoring a goal.

According to the Portuguese, an overhaul needs to be done as the entire team played a terrible game.

Moreso, Mourinho emphasized that had the Spurs managed to win because of Ndombele’s first-minute goal, his assessment would still be “the same.”

“It’s not just about not scoring but also not being dangerous and ambitious and for me that’s the problem,” Mourinho conceded. “It is a concern.”

“The fact we score early goals and we don’t kill matches,” he continued. “We must score another, it’s as simple as that. Even defending very well, which we did as a team, that is not enough. Even if we had done that and we won 1-0, my feeling would be the same.”

Tottenham is heading back home to face the 18th-seeded Fulham on Wednesday. Ahead of the match, Mourinho revealed that they will have a refresher in the hope to avoid making the same mistakes.

“Tomorrow, we are going to have a similar meeting to other meetings we have had and we are going to practise the same thing we have practiced after similar situations,” he stressed.
