  • Jadon Sancho's arrival has pushed players down the pecking order
  • Williams and Lingard are receiving interest from othe clubs for permanent deals

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira gets his wish to come true as he goes on a season-long loan to Brazilian side Flamengo.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Pereira wanted to “be happy, to feel important”, whether it was at Old Trafford or with another club.

The 25-year-old Brazilian made his first senior team appearance with Manchester United in 2014 after spending part of his teenage years under their youth academy.

Pereira is no stranger to being loaned after having three loan spells across his time with the club, namely: Granada (2016-17), Valencia (2017-18) and Lazio (2020-21).

The latter originally wanted to sign him to the team permanently after a solid performance for them last season, but Manchester United’s release clause of £21 million ($29 million) was simply too high a price to pay.

Both his home club and Pereira are set to benefit greatly from this deal since the club can focus on new arrival Jadon Sancho’s development with the team, and the Brazilian gets some much-needed burn ahead of the World Cup next year.

In their 5-1 victory over Leeds, Pereira was an unused substitute and it seems as if Manchester United is comfortable with letting him leave permanently.

Goal reports that Flamengo will be paying a loan fee of €1 million ($1.1 million) for the deal and 60 percent of his wages this season as well as an option to buy at the end of the season.

Sancho’s arrival has been a domino effect of young players being pushed down to the bottom of the pecking order.

Manchester United is expected to see a bit more of their players departing soon.

Right-back Brandon Williams is set for a permanent move to Norwich City, and West Ham United is still in hot pursuit to bring speedy winger Jesse Lingard back to the club but on a permanent deal.

The Red Devils will look to keep the ball rolling as they visit Southampton next Sunday, August 22.
