Ethan Horvath is excited for new challenges with Nottingham

Nottingham Forest announces that they’ve signed US Men’s National Team goalkeeper Ethan Horvath to a three-year deal.

Horvath made his name on the international stage in the Concacaf Nations League last June as he saved a penalty in extra time from Mexico’s Andres Guardado.

The American first played professional football for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde in the Eliteserien, the Norwegian professional league.

Horvath then joined Club Brugge in 2017 in Belgium with a four-and-a-half-year contract before signing with Forest.

Forest manager Chris Hughton comments on their signing of Horvath.

“We are delighted to be signing somebody of Ethan’s caliber. He has plenty of valuable experience in Europe with clubs of good pedigree and European competition,” Hughton said.

“He will give us valuable competition in the goalkeeping department and we look forward to working with Ethan."

The young American has performed well on the international stage as he posted three consecutive clean sheets against AS Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in the group stage of the 2018-19 season.

Horvath will need to beat out Brice Samba for the starter role, who has been in the role for the past two seasons.

“It feels great to be here. Nottingham Forest is such a historic club. I really like the stadium and training ground and the people have been fantastic. It’s a new challenge for me. I’m hoping all my experience can help Forest,” Horvath stated.

“I’ve heard about the fans and the 30,000 crowds and that even when it’s not full, it’s loud.”

“The shirt carries a lot of history and I’m proud to be part of that history."

Forest’s best years were in the 1970s and ‘80s but they are now looking at re-entering the English Premier League after missing out for the past 22 years.

Horvath’s arrival is a big sign of life for Forest, and it’s a sign of hope that the club has been missing for so long as they aim for a top-two finish in the English Football League Championship this season.
