  • Tottenham's target opts to stay with Fiorentina
  • Vlahvoci has shown no indication he wants out of Stadio Artemio Franchi
  • Manchester City is more interested in getting Harry Kane than Vlahovic

Tottenham is looking to add more firepower, but it appears one target on their list may have to be stricken off.

It seems Fiorentina is keeping Dusan Vlahovic, dealing the Hotspurs a big blow.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone confirmed that the 21-year-old footballer will stay with the team.

“Every player is important to us, but I repeat what President Rocco Comisso said. Dusan is not for sale and he will stay in Florence,” Barone said to DAZN via Football Italia.

The contract of the Serbian striker will expire in June 2023, but there are reportedly talks at the moment to extend his tenure at Artemio Franchi.

Aside from Tottenham, other teams interested in the player include Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.

“I’d like these rumors to stop because our season begins today and we must be focused,” Barone stated.

Last season, Vlahovic scored 21 goals in 40 appearances, a reason why several teams have expressed interest in the Serbian striker.

This development is likely to force Tottenham to look for another player as they continue to infuse new faces into the club.

They are off to a good start this English Premier League season, the last of which was a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton on Sunday.

The Hotspurs have so far added Bryan Gil and Pierluigi Gollini to the bench and are looking to add more before the transfer window ends.

The same holds for Atletico Madrid who is now forced to set their sights on someone else. They made a final offer or reportedly £51.5 million ($70.33 million) plus £8.6 million ($11.74 million) in bonuses, as well as a 20% future stake.

However, club president Rocco Commisso would reportedly only consider offers around the region of £85.8 million ($117 million).

Also, Vlahovic did not appear to be bent on leaving the Lillies, and this further dampened their chances.

Hence, the Indios are now looking for alternatives and one name mentioned is Olympic gold medalist Matheus Cunha.

He was left out of Hertha Berlin’s lineup when they faced Wolfsburg on Saturday.

As for the Sky Blues, Vlahovic is reportedly not a target this transfer window, The Athletic reported.

This goes against claims of other outlets alleging the Serbian striker is on their radar. Manchester City is allegedly focusing on another player in Harry Kane.
