  • Wilfried Zaha has requested a transfer from Crystal Palace
  • Crystal Palace has yet to find a replacement for head coach Roger Hodgson
  • Everton and Tottenham are leading candidates to recruit Zaha

Crystal Palace is still finding a replacement for Roy Hodgson, but it appears that is not the only problem they are facing.

Wilfried Zaha has reportedly told the team that he also wants out this summer, making him yet another player to watch this transfer window.

According to The Times, the 28-year-old is ready to quit the team following Hodgson’s departure.

Zaha has two years remaining in his current deal, so moving to a new team would need to cover the remainder of that contract.

The Eagles reportedly want £40 million ($56.38 million) for the Ivory Coast international, an amount that Everton and Tottenham are allegedly willing to bite.

Of the two teams reportedly interested in Zaha, Everton is not surprising. They were also linked to the forward last season alongside Arsenal.

However, an outrageous asking fee of £100 million ($141 million) fended off all that interest. After one season, those numbers have been slashed by more than half, something that may be acceptable to Everton this time around.

As of this writing, it remains to be seen how Crystal Palace will handle the demands made by Zaha.

Unless Zaha has a change of heart, the Glaziers will have to turn to other players in the fold. One of them could be Christian Benteke, who recently signed a new two-year lease.

Ebererchi Eze could have been another alternative, but the 22-year-old remains out of action due to an Achilles injury.

Zaha’s preference to move stems from the fact that he wants to play with a big-time club.

He had that chance with Manchester United during the 2013-14 season but failed to make a good impression.

Now several years later, Zaha believes he has what it takes to now compete with the best.

“I’m good enough to go out there and compete with the best,” he stated. “If the opportunity came, I wouldn’t turn it down, because I feel like I deserve it.”
