  • Mino Raiola is set to meet with Manchester City over the future of Erling Haaland
  • The Citizens missed out on signing Harry Kane this summer despite a massive bid
  • Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid are all believed to be in the chase for Haaland as well

Erling Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, is ready to hold talks with Manchester City over his client potentially joining the club, according to a new report.

It claimed that the super-agent is shopping around his player in hopes they get the best deal for the Norwegian phenom.

Manchester City’s push for a Haaland signing comes after they failed to secure Harry Kane from the Tottenham Hotspurs, despite a massive bid of £160 million ($220 million) and a weekly salary of £400,000 ($547,620).

Haaland has a release clause believed to be worth around £64 million ($87.2 million) and will kick in next summer, allowing interested clubs to send a pitch to Borussia Dortmund.

Talks of Haaland joining Manchester City intensified recently after it was reported that they were planning to involve Puma in the negotiations.

The German sportswear brand is believed to be ready to offer Haaland a sponsorship deal worth around £50 million ($68.1 million) over the next four years for him to leave Nike.

Alf-Inge Haaland, Erling’s father, once played for Manchester City, and manager Pep Guardiola sees the son as a potential No. 9 for them, a designation assigned to some of the sport’s greatest scorers like Alan Shearer, Bobby Charlton and Brazilian legend Ronaldo.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in early 2020, the 21-year-old has been making a name for himself as one of the best young players Europe has ever seen after scoring 68 goals in 67 matches across all competitions.

Raiola’s impending meeting with the Citizens suggests that they are pushing for a transfer to more elite competition elsewhere.

Manchester City will have tough competition in trying to win Haaland’s signature, however.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United are some of the European clubs linked to the Norwegian striker, and all three have a decent shot at signing him.
