  • Mesut Ozil has no immediate plans to leave Arsenal says his agent
  • Arsenal has yet to get acceptable offers for Ozil
  • Ozil seems content in the sidelines for as long as he is gettintg paid

Mesut Ozil continues to watch games in the sidelines and speculations on his future are growing rampant. Though Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta bats that the 31-year-old player is being held out or tactical reasons, critics beg to differ. When asked about his situation, the German player's agent (Erkut Sogut) claims that Ozil will stay on at Emirates Stadium at least until the end of his deal in 2021.

Ozil has seen a rollercoaster ride to his stint with the Gunners. He hardly saw action under Unai Emery during the first part of the season but got an opportunity when Arteta took over. Unfortunately, that run was halted when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Since the restart, Ozil has not gotten the same exposure due to "tactical reasons."

To date, Ozil has missed 12 of the Gunners' last 12 Premier League games. Considering he is the top earner for Arsenal, seeing him getting paid roughly $457,000 a week from the sidelines does not bode well for his future.

Ozil has been linked to several teams like Generbance and some clubs from the MLS. But so far, nothing has gone down. And if his agent is to be believed, the German prefers to stay at Emirates Stadium until his current deal runs out, Fanatik reported.

“I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021," Sogut said. “He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”

The scenario could change if some club pitches a good offer of Arsenal's way. Arteta is busy focusing on the season right now and a possible deal involving the Ozil's future may not be among his immediate concerns, at least for now.

“90 percent [he] will leave Arsenal in 2021. Mesut to Asia, America or Turkey? Yes, maybe,” Sogut added.

Ozil has had 254 appearances with Arsenal since arriving from Real Madrid in 2013. So far, he has accounted for 44 goals and 77 assists.

In a previous post, it was revealed how Ozil may not be aligned with Arteta's vision. His attitude is questioned as well. Unless he changes his ways, his current stature with the Gunners is unlikely to change.
